Edsel Stricklin was born on Jan. 15, 1917, in Adele, KY to Ira and Hattie Stricklin. He married Emma Lou Toney on Sep.

1, 1940, and they remained happily married for 67 years. Living the majority of his life in West Virginia, ant financial officer Mr. Stricklin, was an accountfor Fuel Process Company and Appalachian Construction Company of South Charleston, and a consultant for Kanawha Manufacturing Company Charleston, WV. Serving in the Army Air Corps during World War II, he was a B-17 command pilot and served overseas in the 15th Air Force in Italy. During the course of his deployment he flew over 50 combat bombing missions before the end of the war and was highly decorated and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross.

He was active in the Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts of America, and was instrumental in establishing Little League baseball in his community. Mr. Stricklin also belonged to a number of civic organizations and was a Shriner and had been a member of the Beni Kedem Temple in Charleston, WV.
