All patients who are diagnosed or treated for cancer are listed in the registry so the institution can maintain contact with these patients. This enables physicians and staff to make sure patients receive continuing care and assistance.

Information collected through the registry allows Southwest Florida Regional Medical Center to participate in national studies designed to improve patient care.
