The high school students, ages 16 and 17, were arrested and charged late Thursday in the shootings, investigators said. The motive was unclear. Nothing was taken from the victims. Polk County Sheriff Lawrence Crow called it the "bloodiest crime spree by juveniles" he had ever seen. "We have a generation of kids with no conscience that shoot people down." One of the wounded, a 10-year-old girl shot in the motel room, was in critical condition.

The others were in good condition. The shootings took place in three central Florida communities. It appears the teens turned violent last Sunday when they allegedly killed Larry Steven Tyler, 32, of Haines City near the entrance of a golf and tennis resort, during an attempted carjacking. All the others were shot Thursday night in an one-hour span. The gunmen had jumped from a car and opened fire on a couple who stopped their car at a mailbox in Davenport.

The driver was wounded. Within about a hour, two people were reported shot in a vehicle at a stop sign in Dundee. That's when Christy Large, 21, was killed, and another person was wounded. Around the same time, there was a knock on the door of a motel room door near Haines City, and a masked gunman opened fire on five family members from Hinesville, Ga. two girls, ages 10 and 15, and their mother, aunt and uncle.

The family had just checked in for a reunion. Carlos Edward Moodey, 61, answered the knock and was shot. "He opened the door expecting to see relatives and was met by a hail of gunfire and was hit a couple of Sylathum Antwan Streeter, 16, Curtis Shuler, 16, and Victor Lester, 17, have been charged with murder and attempted murder. The State Attorney's office will decide if they will be tried as adults. Guests at John's Resort said they heard the gunfire when the gunmen attacked the family.

"1 (had) just dozed off and 1 heard 'boom, boom, said Dottie Blakeslee. Jim Lew, manager of the 120-room motel, said a family member called the front desk after the shooting and a clerk alerted police. "We called 911 and did what we could until emergency vehicles got SHULER STREETER LESTER here," said Lew, adding: "Nothing like this has ever happened here before." An hour earlier, Jeffrey Edward and Cathy Lynn Boyd stopped at their roadside mailbox in Davenport and were surprised by a trio who jumped from a car and opened fire. A bullet struck Cathy Lynn Boyd, who was driving. She was treated and released from Heart of Florida Hospital in Haines City.

Shortly before 11 p.m., the sheriff's office received a call about a shooting in Dundee. Three people were in a vehicle at a stop sign. Two of them were shot. The victims fled to a supermarket for help but Large, 21, of Lake Alfred, was fatally wounded. FREE Delivery! Suycm von S50 SI SO, Other South ouch.
