Mark Urbanski, 25, originally was charged with aiding in the alleged rape of a Clearwater woman last April, but in January he pleaded to lesser charges in exchange for his testimony against Carl Allison, 26. Allison was acquitted of rape charges earlier this month. Circuit Judge Barbara Fleischer was limited under the plea deal to give Urbanski no more than the six years probation, but she exercised her freedom to impose a series of conditions. Strictest among them was a requirement for Urbanski to undergo weekly drug testing. "One dirty urine," the judge warned, "and a warrant will be issued for your arrest." Other conditions imposed by the judge included out-of-state drug treatment that could take up to three years, Alcoholics Anonymous meetings twice a week, and classes to develop "some sensitivity to women." He is also required to find a job with no help from his parents.

Urbanski is the son of former Tampa Tribune President James Urbanski, who was out of town when the attack allegedly occurred in his home. Allison was accused of drugging and raping the woman after she passed out. His four companions that night, all sons of prominent local families, accepted plea deals in exchange for their testimony against Allison. Urbanski pleaded guilty to the felony charge of evidence tampering for destroying photographs of the alleged attack and the misdemeanor of failing to report a rape.
