"They hit every state in the country except Hawaii," Madelyn Roberts said. The couple were regular dancers in the Square 'Em Up Sam square dancing group in Fort Myers, she said. Mildred Roberts was a member of the Buckingham Presbyterian Church, the Eastern Star in Keyport, N.J., and the Retired Teachers' Association.

She is survived by her husband, Milton; a son and daughter-in-law, Holmes and Caryl of North Fort Myers; a daughter, Madelyn of Fort Myers; two sisters, Helen Hurley of Winter Haven and Virginia Ferrara of New Jersey; and three grandchildren. Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday in the Chapel of Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, with the Rev. Robert Veley officiating. Friends may visit today from 6 to 8 p.m.

He was 78. "He always had a smile on his face," said his wife, Victoria Crane of Fort Myers. "Everyone liked him.

I don't know of a person who ever met him who didn't like him." Charles Crane was born Oct. 5, 1910, in Durand, Mich. He was president of the McBryde Boot Shop, a chain of women's shoe stores with five suburban Detroit locations. Crane enjoyed golfing and was an avid horseman, Victoria Crane said. He was a member of the Fort Myers Country Club and the Hideaway Country Club, she said.

She and her husband, Milton Roberts of Fort Myers, lived in En-glishtown, N.J., where Mildred Roberts taught elementary school. They moved to Cape Coral in 1 969 after Milton Roberts retired, their daughter said.

They lived in Cape Coral for nine years and then moved to Fort Myers, she said. He was 69. Festinger was a professor of psychology at the New School for Social Research from 1968 until his death. Festinger wrote dozens of articles and books on psy chology, including several on the the FESTINGER ory of cognitive dis sonance, which occurs when two si-multaneously held thoughts, opinions or beliefs are inconsistent.

Antonio Ferreira, 44, shortest man LISBON, Portugal Antonio Ferreira, who for a time was listed as the world's shortest man, died Friday of a respiratory illness at age 44, the LUSA news agency reported. I -J Ferreira, who was 29 inches tall, was a drummer with The Pop Kings, who have toured South Africa and Japan. Ferreira was succeeded as the world's shortest known human adult by Nelson de la Rosa, of the Dominican Republic. According to the Guinness Book of World Records, he measures 28.3 inches tail. Samarius Gourary, Lubavitcher leader NEW YORK Rabbi Samarius Gourary, chairman of the executive committee of the United Lubavitcher Yeshivoth since 1940, died Saturday after a brief illness.

He was 91. Gourary died at New York Hospital-Cornell Medical Center at about 7 a.m. Gourary was leader of the educational arm of the worldwide Chabad-Lubavitch movement that was established 92 years ago in Lubavitch, Russia. Ro Mitchell, a television news anchorman, was found dead of an apparent heart attack Saturday. He was 61.
