Fort Myers News-Press, Monday, June 20, 1977 5B Wrong address at fault I The wrathof Terrible Tina Letters To Reader's Line In December I ordered two subscriptions for my parents from Magazine Buyers Service. Shortly afterward, I was billed $11.45 and was assured my subscriptions were being processed and sent to my parents. My parents said they have not received any copies yet. I wrote the company but it did not respond. Can you help? Marc A.

Benzing, Fort Myers The reason your parents didn't receive their magazines is because the address was incorrect on the company's records, according to company spokesmen. The firm was sending the magazines to Sam Snead Drive, Fort Myers, when it should have been sending them to Sam Snead Drive, Flint, Mich. The firm has processed a change of address for the subscriptions, and your parents can expect their magazines, including the back copies, in about six to eight weeks, the spokesmen said. Reader's Line solves problems, investigates complaints and answers questions. Letters must be signed and include the writer's phone number ond address.

During her rampage, the three-year-old rhesus monkey eluded Hillsborough County sheriff's deputies, forced nearly 150 people to hide inside their mobile homes, attacked two men who befriended her, caused a woman to jump fully clothed into a swimming pool and tried to break into a house where a man waited with a revolver. The tiny simian broke her leash in the afternoon and escaped from her home. She decided to visit the Rose Lake Estates adult trailer park. "At first, she was just sitting peacefully on the mailbox, not bothering anybody. And then, with no warning, she ran up in the yard here, started tearing at my screen door trying to get at two women who were sitting here on the sunporch," said Houston Buck, the trailer park manager.

Fred Matthews, a neighbor, was Tina's first victim. "I was talking to her nicely, when she turned on me and bit me," Matthews said, displaying a slash across his upper thigh. "Old Fred here is always talking about how bad he is, but I sat here and watched a little brown monkey beat him up," laughed Buck. Matthews rubbed his sore leg, and said, "I ain't never run from nobody or nothing until the monkey come at me." Buck contacted the Hillsborough County sheriff's office and deputies were dispatched. Tina's wrath continued unabated.

Word of her attack spread throughout the trailer park. People arrived with bananas hoping to apprehend Tina. Deputies contacted the animal control division, but they, too, were foiled. They chased Tina over fenc- 'Od Fred here is always faking about how bad he is, but I watched a tittle brown monkey beaf him up An amused neighbor es, past barking dogs, and even around a swimming pool, but Tina was faster. Two hours later, sheriff's deputies dismissed the animal control attendants and called upon civilians who knew the monkey.

Tina's owner, Steve Edmondson, was not home, and according to Edmondson's sister-in-law, Rene Edmondson, no one else could handle the irate animal. One woman talked softly to the monkey in hopes of obtaining her trust and capturing her, but Tina saw through the soft tones, lunged at the woman and forced her to jump fully clothed into a swimming pool. Tina then ran around the pool refusing to allow the woman to get out. Lewis Carpenter, another of Tina's neighbors, was the third victim. Carpenter muttered oaths and threatened Tina.

She seemed to understand the curses and threats. She sunk her sharp teeth into Carpenter's arm. Carpenter finally placed a rope around the monkey's neck, but Tina took the rope off, and headed for a nearby roof. Then the sheriff's deputies gave up. "If she comes at this door one more time, I'm going to shoot her and anybody around here who tries to stop me," said Buck.

Finally, Tina's master came home and she climbed penitently on his shoulder. Sheriff's officials said Tina will have to be quarantined for at least ten days because she bit the two men. ta Springs I am a fan of Robert Conrad. Could you please give me his address? One sure thing when you need a muffler your car tells you, loudly. But, other parts of the exhaust system can develop holes without giving any warning sound.

These holes can be dangerous because they can let deadly carbon monoxide into your car without your being aware of it. To help make sure your car's exhaust system is healthy, the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has a new publication, entitled "Vehicle Exhaust Systems." This booklet gives you such tips as: There are four main parts to all car exhaust systems: the manifold, the exhaust pipe, the muffler and the tailpipe. Watch for symptoms of exhaust trouble, like a noisy exhaust caused by a hole in the muffler, hissing noise in the exhaust or leaks where the systems sections are connected. Drive with an open window when you have evidence of an exhaust system problem. The booklet is free and can be yours by sending a postcard to Consumer Information Center, Pueblo.

Homer Viers was picked up at 2:40 a.m. (EDT), apparently as he was cruising the streets, only about six hours after the hit-and-run episode occurred, police said. He was charged with one count of first degree murder in the death of Yvonne Baker and one count of attempted first degree murder against her sister, Mrs. Beverly White.

Police said Viers argued with Miss Baker, with whom he shared a house trailer, in front of her mother's apartment house Saturday evening. Then, as she stood talking with Mrs. White, Viers allegedly got into his car, backed it up, deliberately plowed into the two women, and then sped off, police said. Miss Baker was rushed to Jackson Memorial Hospital but was reported dead on arrival. Mrs.

White was reported in satisfactory condition. One resident of the apartment house who saw the incident attempted to follow Viers in his car but lost him after a short chase. Describing what Viers is accused of doing, the injured woman's husband, Willie Earl White, said, "He got in the car and backed up. Then he swerved it around and came at them full force."
